One Pot Creamy Garlic Tortellini Alfredo
Chicken Alfred pasta is a favorite at our house. This recipe is a slight variation on that recipe. It's made with a creamy garlic sauce recipe. I love it because it's easy and filling and my kids love it because it's creamy and delicious.
This Homemade Alfredo Sauce is so good, we even made an entire post about it. It's made with a combination of chicken broth, cream, and fresh garlic. It's like your favorite homemade alfredo sauce, with lots more flavor.
one bite of tortellini pasta, in the recipe for chicken tortelloni alfredo, alfredo tortellini.
Another thing I love about this meal, besides the one-pot factor, is that it's ready in just 20-30 minutes.

You can use frozen tortellini. You will, however, need to cook them before adding them to the pasta recipe.
Just cook the tortellini according to the directions on the package. Be sure to error on the side of al-dente. Since the pasta is put in a creamy garlic sauce, it will continue to cook a little more when you add it to the homemade sauce. If you cook it only to al-dente, you will be sure to keep the pasta from overcooking.
You can also use dry tortellini pasta. It's probably best to bypass the one-pot method and cook the pasta according to the directions on the package. Add the cooked pasta after you let the sauce boil for at least a minute.
It would work great to use pre-cooked chicken in this homemade creamy garlic alfredo pasta recipe. You can use grilled chicken, as long as the spices used when cooking is similar to this recipe. Italian seasonings would work great.
You can also use some leftover rotisserie chicken in this recipe. It would make this recipe even easier. Just add the butter in the pan, heat until the butter is melted, add some minced garlic and sautee until fragrant and slightly golden brown.
Add chunks of the rotisserie chicken and heat in the skillet with the garlic until heated through. Take the garlic chicken out of the skillet and set aside and then and proceed with the pasta recipe.

Recipe Variations for Tortellini Pasta
- Creamy Spinach and Chicken Tortellini Pasta- If you're a fan of creamy pasta dishes, then this variation is sure to be a hit. Simply add a generous helping of fresh spinach leaves to the pot along with the chicken and tortellini. Once cooked, stir in a dollop of cream cheese and a splash of milk to create a rich, velvety sauce. Serve with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and a side of garlic bread for the ultimate comfort food feast.
- Lemon and Herb Chicken Tortellini Pasta-- If you're looking for a lighter, fresher take on chicken tortellini pasta, then this citrusy variation is perfect for you. Start by marinating your chicken in a mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, and a selection of fresh herbs such as thyme and basil. Cook the tortellini as usual, then toss everything together in a pan with a handful of cherry tomatoes and a drizzle of olive oil. Garnish with fresh parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice for a burst of zingy flavor.
- Spicy Chicken Tortellini Pasta-- If you're a fan of bold, spicy flavors, then this variation is sure to tick all the right boxes. Add a generous pinch of chili flakes to the pot along with the chicken and tortellini to give the dish a fiery kick. For an extra hit of heat, stir in a tablespoon of hot sauce or a small diced jalapeño pepper. Serve with a side of garlic bread and a cooling cucumber salad to balance out the heat.

In a separate pan, sauté the chicken with a diced red onion until golden brown. Add a generous dollop of pesto sauce and a splash of chicken broth, stirring until the sauce is heated through. Add the tortellini to the pan and toss everything together until coated in the sauce. Serve with a sprinkling of pine nuts and a side of breadsticks.

How to Store Leftover Pasta
Storing:
- Make sure your leftover pasta has cooled down to room temperature before storing it.
- Transfer your pasta to an airtight container. You can use a plastic container or a glass container with a lid.
- Label your container with the date you made the pasta bake and the date you are storing it. This way, you can keep track of how long it has been in the fridge.
- Store your pasta bake in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Reheating in Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Take your pasta bake out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to an hour to take the chill off.
- Transfer your pasta bake to an oven-safe dish. You can use a baking dish or a casserole dish.
- Cover your pasta bake with aluminum foil to prevent it from drying out.
- Bake your pasta bake for 20-30 minutes, or until it is heated through. You can remove the aluminum foil during the last 5-10 minutes of baking to allow the top to brown and get crispy again.
- Take your pasta bake out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Creamy Garlic Tortellini Alfredo
Ingredients
Chicken
- 1-2 Large Chicken Breasts Cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
Creamy Garlic Pasta Sauce
- 2 tablespoon Butter
- 4 Cloves Garlic or 4 teaspoon Minced
- 2 Cups Chicken Broth
- 1 Cup Heavy Cream
- ½ tsp Pepper
- ½ teaspoon Garlic Salt
- 1 ½ Cups Parmesan Cheese Grated, Shredded, or both
Pasta
- 24 oz Fresh Tortellini I found mine at Costco
Instructions
Prepare Chicken
- Cut chicken breast into 1" pieces. In a deep non-stick skillet, add the olive oil and chicken. Sprinkle the chicken breasts with the Italian Seasoning and garlic salt. On medium heat, stir the chicken breast occasionally and brown chicken breast until golden.
- Remove the chicken breast from the pan and set it aside.
Creamy Garlic Pasta Sauce
- Melt 2 tablespoon butter in the pan. Use a wooden spoon to scrape the golden chicken bits off the bottom of the pan. (these little bits add a ton of flavoring to this pasta dish)
- Add minced garlic to the pan and saute until fragrant and just slightly golden.
- Add chicken broth, cream, pepper, and garlic salt and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes to reduce a little of the liquid.
- Add parmesan and bring to a boil again.
Tortellini Pasta
- Add the tortellini pasta and let the pasta simmer until done. (The directions on my packaging was for 3 minutes. If your fresh tortellini pasta is different than that you may want to cook your pasta in a separate pot and then add the cooked pasta to the recipe at this point.)
- Add the cooked chicken and stir until all the ingredients are combined. If your creamy garlic pasta sauce is a little runny, just let the pasta sit for about 5 minutes before serving. If your tortellini pasta seems a little dry, add a little extra cream or chicken broth until you have the desired consistency. Enjoy!
- Garnish with minced fresh parsley and/or parmesan cheese. Enjoy!

How about if I make this delicious recipe with shrimps instead of chicken? Will it be just as good?
