Roasted Green Beans With Garlic
My entire family loves these lemon and garlic roasted green beans.ย They only take a few minutes to prep and 25 minutes to bake in the oven.ย
This recipe is about as basic as it gets. There aren't any creamy sauces or dressingsโjust fresh green beans and lots of garlic and lemon flavor!
It's the perfect side to roast while you're prepping your main dish.ย I love making green beans to go along with our Cornflake Chicken, Grilled California Chicken, Sunday Pot Roast-Rump Roast Recipe, and also our Baked BBQ Chicken Recipe.ย

Ingredients You Will Need
- Green Beans - make sure to use fresh green beans for this recipe. They should be trimmed before using and roughly the same size so that they cook evenly
- Avocado Oil - you can also use olive oil.
- Garlic- freshly minced garlic will have the best flavor for this recipe, but you could use the jarred minced garlic in a pinch.
- Salt and Pepper
- Fresh Lemon - you will need the juice of a whole lemon. If you want even more lemon flavor you could add the lemon zest, too.
How to Make Lemon Garlic Roasted Green Beans
- Prep the green beans. Rinse the green beans, then trim the ends off.ย ย (You can cut them into 1" pieces if you want but they're fun to eat as a finger food too.)ย ย
- Season. Place green beans into a 9" x 13" glass baking dish and drizzle with the avocado oil. Add the minced garlic, salt, and pepper and mix.
- Bake. Add the green beans to the preheated 400 degree oven and roast for 20-25 minutes, or until they are starting to turn golden brown.
- Serve. Remove from the oven and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top. Lightly toss with a fork just before serving. Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions
Fresh green beans take out 20-25 minutes in a 400-degree oven to roast.ย If you need to bake another dish at 350 degrees, in the oven, that will work for green beans too.ย You'll just need to bake the beans for an extra 5-10 minutes or until they are tender.ย
If you decide to roast your green beans at 350 degrees F instead, plan on adding another 5-10 minutes to the roasting time for a total of 25-35 minutes.
While you technically could, I don't recommend freezing cooked green beans. The process of freezing and then thawing will break them down and cause the texture to be a little more mushy.
Cooked green beans can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days before they begin to get a little too mushy.
