What are Candy Kabobs?
Over the past few years, you have probably noticed that Candy Kabobs are all over the place. But what you might not have considered is that it’s incredibly easy to make them at home. Making DIY Candy Kabobs means that you can choose all of your very favorite gummy candies, and you customize them to fit absolutely any theme or occasion.
No matter what, I highly recommend soaking your wooden skewers for about 10 minutes before trying to add any of the sticky candies. Not only will it make building them easier, but it will help keep the stick cleaner. You can serve candy skewers right away or wrap each one in an individual cellophane bag.
Candy Kabob Ingredients
- Wooden Skewers - you can use 6-12” skewers to make individual Candy Kabobs. Adding the sticky candies will be easier if you soak the skewers for about 10 minutes and then wipe dry.
- Assorted Gummy Candies - your Candy Kabobs will look best if you use an assortment of colors, shapes, and textures. You can go with a theme or just add your candy spontaneously.
- Sprinkles - some candies, such as marshmallow based candies, can be cut in half and then dipped into colored sprinkles.
- Marshmallows - feel free to add any size, shape, color, or flavor of marshmallows to your kabobs.
How to Make Candy Kabobs
- Soak the skewers. Soak the skewers in water for about 10 minutes before adding the candy. You can add water to a 9" by 13" baking dish. This will help the candy slide on a little easier. Be sure to wipe the water off the skewers before adding the candy.
- Assemble the candy on a stick. Add the candy to fill each skewer or leave a few inches at the bottom of each skewer if you'd like there to be a handle. Try and use a variety of different colors and textures.
- Serve or store. Use as an edible decoration or a fun treat. If you plan to give as gifts or store for later, slide each Candy Kabob into a cellophane bag and tie with a ribbon. Enjoy!
