There is no butter, no Worcestershire—this is the recipe that you can depend on when you need a buffalo wing sauce, pizza topping, or dipping sauce for chicken wings ASAP. It also means that this is a vegan buffalo sauce!

Easy Buffalo Sauce Ingredients

  • Hot Sauce – Frank’s Red Hot Sauce is my go-to hot sauce and the hot sauce that this recipe is made for. Every hot sauce brand has a different level of heat, so if you choose another you may need to experiment with the quantity of brown sugar.
  • Brown Sugar – dark brown sugar gives a deeper molasses flavor and is my preference for buffalo sauce. Light brown sugar can be substituted as well as honey.

How to Make Easy Buffalo Sauce

  1. Boil the hot sauce and brown sugar. In a medium saucepan, boil for 1 minute while stirring.
  2. Cool. Let the sauce cool to room temperature.
  3. Store or use immediately. Store in the fridge for up to 1 week or use immediately on chicken, wings, pizza, burgers, and more. Enjoy!

Of course! But this recipe is specifically formulated for the heat level of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce so if you choose another, you may need to adjust the quantity of brown sugar.

How long does homemade buffalo sauce last?

In the fridge, this buffalo sauce will last for 1 week. With that being said, I have stored in for even up to two weeks and it was perfectly fine. Just be sure it has cooled completely before putting in an airtight container in the fridge.

How can I make a mild buffalo sauce recipe?

If you want your buffalo sauce to be a little more mild, add 1/3 cup of unsalted butter to the saucepan and boil along with the hot sauce and brown sugar.

Tips For Making Homemade Buffalo Sauce

  • Make an entire bottle at a time!  You can even pour the buffalo glaze back into the bottle and use it another time.
  • Boiling the sauce for one minute will ensure that the brown sugar has dissolved, giving you a nice, smooth texture.

  • 1 cup brown sugar

Instructions
 

  • In a medium-size saucepan, add the Frank's Red Hot Sauce and brown sugar. Stir until combined. Bring to a boil, then boil the sauce for 1 minute while stirring.
