Mummy Hot Dogs Recipe
These cute festive Mummy Hot Dogs use crescent roll dough and candy eyeballs to make a simple, spooky Halloween dinner. Just cut the premade dough into long strips, wrap around each hot dog to look like a mummy, and bake. Decorate with candy eyes or even dots of mustard or ketchup.
You could also use Lil Smokies to make pre-trick-or-treating Mummy Pigs-in-a-Blanket. Best of all, you can make these ahead of time and bake when needed.
Ingredients You Will Need
- Crescent Roll Dough - to make between 8-10 mummy dogs, you will need 1 can of crescent roll dough.
- Hot Dogs - you can use your favorite hot dogs. I like the Kirkland Beef brand hot dogs myself. You could also make mini pigs in the blanket style Mummy Hotdogs using Lil Smokies.
- Candy Eyes - Wilton makes candy eyes, but any kind you can find will work great. You can attach using dots of mustard or ketchup.
- Ketchup and Mustard - this is for serving once they are baked.
How to Make Mummy Hot Dogs
- Cut the crescent rolls into strips. Unwrap the crescent rolls and lay on a cutting board. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into long strips to wrap around each hot dog. (Note: It's okay if it's a little uneven)
- Wrap with pieces of dough. Wipe hot dogs with a paper towel to remove any excess liquid (This will help the dough stick to the hot dogs). Wrap each hot dog in a strip of dough to look like a wrapped mummy. Repeat with all hot dogs.
- Bake. Place each wrapped hot dog onto a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown.
- Serve. Remove from the oven and add the eyeballs to the hot dogs using a little bit of ketchup or mustard. Serve warm with ketchup and mustard if desired. Enjoy!
