Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips

These baked cinnamon sugar tortilla chips are sweet, crispy, and make a great snack on their own. But for a real treat, serve them with your favorite dessert dip.

They make the perfect little scoops for cheesecake dip, caramel dip, and pudding. You can also serve them with ice cream, or cut them into smaller strips to add to a sundae!

Because this recipe can be whipped up in no time, it’s perfect for a quick after school snack, last minute game day appetizer, or any time you are hosting friends. Just be warned that these chips are incredibly addicting and will not last long.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • So easy! Seriously. This recipe couldn’t be easier. All you need are tortillas, cinnamon sugar, and something to make the cinnamon sugar stick—in this case coconut oil spray. The only reason they take more than about 10 minutes is because you will probably need to bake 2 batches.
  • Unique dipper for dessert dips. It’s nice to have something besides just cookies, pretzels, and fruit for dessert dips. The thin and crispy texture is also perfect for eating with ultra rich and creamy dips.
  • Unlimited variations. You can experiment with cutting these into different shapes (strips, squares, etc), using different spices (pumpkin pie spice, ginger, nutmeg), using corn tortillas, or even making them a little spicy.

Key Ingredients You Will Need

  • Cinnamon Sugar: you’ll need about one tablespoon of cinnamon per ? cup of sugar to make a strong-flavored cinnamon sugar. Feel free to experiment with using other baking spices like pumpkin pie spice, ginger, or even a bit of cayenne.
  • Tortillas: this recipe uses flour tortillas, but you could make it with corn tortillas. The baking time will be slightly less, so keep an eye on them in the oven.
  • Coconut Oil Spray: this is sprayed over the tortillas to get the cinnamon sugar to stick, but it also gives it a little flavor. You could substitute melted butter or melted coconut oil if you prefer.

How to Make Baked Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips

  1. Add the cinnamon sugar. Place 2-3 tortillas on a baking sheet and spray one side with coconut oil spray. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, fold in half, and dumb the excess back into a bowl. Spray the other side and repeat.
  2. Bake. Cut each tortilla into 8 wedges, then spread into a single layer on your baking sheet and bake at 375 degree F for about 6-7 minutes, or until golden brown.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the best way to store these chips?

The only way to store these is at room temperature. If you try to store them in the fridge or freezer, they will get soggy. If they are stored in an airtight container they should stay fresh for up to 3 days.

How long do you bake tortilla chips?

The baking time for tortilla chips depends on oven temperature, the type of tortillas, and how big they are. In general, if you bake them at 375 degrees F, tortilla chips should take between 6-7 minutes to turn golden brown and crisp.

Can you make tortilla chips with corn tortillas?

Sure! If you want to substitute corn tortillas (and make these gluten-free!) just keep an eye on them in the oven. Corn tortillas will likely take a bit less time to bake.
