Key Ingredients

  • Heavy Cream – any type of heavy whipping cream will work.
  • Chocolate – we used semi-sweet chocolate chips, but you could use any type of chocolate bars or even milk chocolate if you want.
  • Cream Cheese – make sure that your cream cheese is at room temperature and soft enough to mix with the whipped cream.
  • Powdered Sugar – it’s a good idea to sift your powdered sugar to remove any lumps prior to using.
  • Vanilla Extract – pure vanilla extract tastes best.
  • Oreos – you can crush your own Oreos by putting them between two layers of parchment and rolling a rolling pin over them.  Or, you can buy the already crushed!

How to Make This Oreo Parfait Dessert

Chocolate Ganache/ Chocolate Mousse

  1. Heat 1 cup of heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until it comes to a simmer.  Place chocolate chips in a large bowl and pour the hot cream over the chocolate.
  2. Mix and cool.  Let it sit for a couple minutes to melt the chocolate, then whisk the chocolate and cream together until smooth.
  3. Chill in the refrigerator.  Place a piece of plastic wrap directly over the ganache, then allow it to cool to room temperature before placing in the refrigerator to chill for 30 minutes (or overnight).

Whipped Cream Mixture

  1. Whip cream.  In a stand mixer or electric mixer with the whisk attachment, whip cream on high until soft peaks form.  Reduce the speed to low and slowly add the vanilla extract and powdered sugar while mixing, then transfer to another bowl.
  2. Add cream cheese.  Add the room temperature cream cheese to the mixer and whip on high until light and fluffy.
  3. Fold it all together.  Carefully add in one scoop of whipped cream at a time until the cream cheese and whipped cream are combined.

How to Assemble Oreo Chocolate Parfaits

  1. Whip the ganache.  When you’re ready to assemble the parfaits, remove the chocolate ganache from the fridge and whip with a hand mixer, or in a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, until light and fluffy – about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Prep piping bags.  Scoop the whipped cream mixture and whipped chocolate ganache into separate piping bags and cut the tips off.
  3. Assemble each layer.  In the bottom of a small jar or cup, add a few tablespoons of crushed Oreos. Next, pipe in a layer of whipped cream, then a layer of chocolate ganache. Repeat the layers of Oreos, whipped topping and chocolate ganache one more time so that there are 2 layers of each.
  4. Serve.  Garnish the top with a bit more whipped cream and a sprinkle of crushed Oreos, then serve immediately.  Enjoy!
