Turkey Club Pinwheels

These Turkey Club Pinwheels have all the flavors of a classic turkey club sandwich—turkey, bacon, cheese, and a creamy spread—rolled up into a fun, bite-sized, layered snack. If you’re looking for an easy appetizer that’s also perfect for sharing, these are a great choice.

For more roll-up versions of classic sandwiches, you can also try these Buffalo Chicken Pinwheels, Pizza Rolls Ups, or these Pesto Pinwheels.

Turkey Club Pinwheels

I love this recipe because it combines so many great textures and flavors in every bite. The creamy spread, crisp vegetables, smoky bacon, and savory deli meats all work together beautifully. Plus, it’s easy to customize based on what’s in your fridge, making it a recipe you’ll come back to again and again. Swap the meats, try a different cheese, or add your favorite sandwich toppings to make them exactly the way you like them.

Another reason these pinwheels are such a favorite is that they’re easy to make ahead. In fact, a little time in the refrigerator helps them hold together better and makes them easier to slice. Whether you’re planning for a holiday gathering, packing lunches for the week, or bringing an appetizer to share, these turkey club roll-ups are a simple option that never lasts long on the serving tray.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Easy to customize. This recipe is almost more like a list of suggested ingredients. You can swap out different types of deli meat, sliced cheese, and veggies. Feel free to season the cream cheese, add different sauces, or add any other veggies or ingredients that you want!
  • Great for larger groups. Even though these are individual bites, you are really only assembling a few. If you use 8” tortillas, each tortilla roll will yield about 12-14 pieces, give or take.
  • Make them ahead of time. Making these 24 hours in advance is actually ideal because it gives the rolls a chance to form into pinwheels well.

Key Ingredients You Will Need

  • Tortillas: you will need about 8 large flour tortillas. I don’t recommend corn tortillas because they will not roll up well.
  • Cream Cheese: because you will need to spread it, you want your cream cheese to be softened. You can pull it out to room temperature ahead of time, or very gently warm it in the microwave.
  • Bacon: for sandwiches, I prefer a thicker sliced bacon so that it has a really meaty texture. If it’s super crispy, you may want to chop it up a bit first and sprinkle it over the tortillas rather than lay it down.
  • Turkey: for roll-ups like this, thinly sliced is best.
  • Ham: just like with the turkey, thinly sliced ham is best for roll-ups. Feel free to skip the ham and double up on turkey, too.
  • Sliced Cheese: my favorite sliced cheese for these roll-ups is cheddar, with Swiss or provolone cheeses as close second.
  • Avocado: slice super thinly, or mash the avocado and spread it over the tortilla.
  • Onion: thinly slice the onion before adding it so that it rolls up well. You could substitute thinly sliced chives or green onions.

How to Make Turkey Pinwheels

  1. Assemble the ingredients. Lay out the tortillas and spread about 1 ounce of cream cheese over each. Top with the bacon, turkey, ham, cheese, avocado, and onion.
  2. Roll them up. Roll each tortilla tightly into a log, gently pressing the fillings down as you roll to keep the pinwheels compact.
  1. Chill. Wrap each roll tightly in plastic wrap and store in the fridge for at least 1 hour, or up to 24 hours.
  2. Slice into pieces. Remove the plastic and slice into ½” pieces. Serve immediately!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is usually in a turkey club sandwich?

A typical turkey club sandwich is made with sliced deli turkey, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, and a creamy mayo or cheese spread all built with an extra layer of bread. The bread is usually toasted sandwich bread, and really becomes a part of the sandwich with that extra layer.

What kind of tortillas should I use for roll ups?

You will want to use flour tortillas instead of corn. Corn tortillas don’t roll up well—they will break apart until warmed. Flour tortillas are also a more similar flavor profile to bread, which is often what roll-ups are replicating.

Recipe Tips

  • Slice everything very thin. There are a lot of ingredients in these roll-ups, so they all need to be sliced thin in order to allow them to be rolled up!
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the roll-ups. Otherwise, you will squish them all!
  • Make these ahead of time! In order for them to hold together, give the roll-ups plenty of time to chill in the fridge. A minimum of 1 hour will work, but it’s best if they can chill for closer to 24 hours.

Storage Instructions

  • Refrigerator: store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
