Chex Party Mix Recipe

When it comes to classic snacks, Chex Party Mix is one that just about everyone knows and loves. It’s easy to make at home and best of all, you can customize it so that you aren’t left with a bowl of rye chips.

Because it’s how my family likes it, this recipe for Chex Mix Party Mix skips the wheat and rye snacks altogether and adds extra corn-based ones like Crispix. Feel free to use the same proportions of snacks, but mix and match what you like. The only part that I recommend not messing with is the Worcestershire sauce in the butter mixture. I’ve found it’s basically impossible to replicate and adds so much flavor.

Key Ingredients

  • Chex – My preference is rice chex because it is super crisp and light. A combination of rice, corn, and wheat is also great so use whichever flavors you like best.
  • Other Crispy Snacks – for fun, I like to use Crispix and Bugles in addition to Chex because they add different shapes and slightly different flavors. Feel free to use other crispy cereals, such as Cheerios or Corn Flakes, or crispy treats like garlic chips, rye chips, goldfish crackers, or even Cheez Its.
  • Mini Pretzels – sticks, twists, and squares will all work great.
  • Peanuts – lightly salted and roasted are my favorite. Or, substitute cashews if you prefer. If you have a peanut allergy, you can also leave them out.
  • Butter – butter adds flavor, but just as importantly it keeps the Chex Mix nice and crisp while it bakes. It also helps the seasoning stick to the cereal.
  • Worcestershire Sauce – Worcestershire Sauce is the classic savory flavoring for Chex Mix. It adds loads of flavor and is hard to substitute.
  • Seasoned Salt – Lawry’s makes great seasoned salt, or you can use any other seasoning salt that you like.
