Key Ingredients
- Cranberries - to make the cranberry sauce, you can use either fresh or frozen cranberries. This recipe also works perfectly with leftover cranberry sauce, so if you have that you can skip the cranberries and fresh oranges.
- Fresh Oranges - you will need both the zest and juice from a fresh orange or two. You could try substituting lemon or even lime.
- Butter - your butter needs to be nice and soft before you try to whip it.
- Honey - this is optional but highly suggested! The combination of flavors is amazing.
- Powdered Sugar - this helps to sweeten the honey butter just a touch.
How to Make Cranberry Butter
- Make the cranberry sauce. In a medium saucepan, add the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, water, and orange zest. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 8 minutes or the cranberries have burst. Cool.
- Make the honey butter. Whip the soft butter on high speed for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy. Drizzle in the honey, then slowly add the powdered sugar. Mix well, then add in the cinnamon, vanilla, and salt. Whip again until light and fluffy.
- Combine. Once the cranberry sauce is completely cool, combine 1 cup of cranberry sauce with 2 cups of honey butter and whip until fluffy.
