Walking Tacos Recipe

This recipe for walking tacos combines all of the ingredients of a hardshell taco into a fun, portable snack. Served straight from a small bag of Doritos, they are the perfect party food for football games, birthdays, and even camping trips.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 or 85/15 fat content
  • tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 small bags Doritos
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • ½ cup pico de gallo
  • 8 cups lettuce shredded
  • 1 whole avocado diced

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, taco seasoning, and water. Cook, breaking up the beef with a wooden spoon or spatula, until there is only a little pink left.
  • Open each small bag of Doritos and add a small handful of shredded lettuce and about 1/4 cup of taco meat to each bag. Finish with 1-2 tablespoons of shredded cheese, pico de gallo, diced avocado, and any of your other favorite taco toppings.
  • Serve each Walking Taco out of the bag with a spoon. Enjoy!

Notes

Storing instructions: store leftover taco meat and other toppings in separate airtight containers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Freezing: freeze cooked, seasoned taco meat for up to 3 months. You can reheat in the microwave, or transfer to a saucepan with a touch of water and heat over medium, stirring occasionally.
