These salted caramel Rice Krispie treats are an easy dessert with big flavor. Rice Krispies are coated in a rich homemade caramel sauce and melted marshmallows for a sweet and salty version of the classic.
Coat the inside of a 9" x 13" baking dish with butter or cooking spray, then set aside.
Add the Rice Krispies and 2 handfuls (or about 2 cups) of marshmallows to a large mixing bowl and combine.
In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the brown sugar, whipping cream, and corn syrup. Bring to a rapid boil. Add the remaining mini marshmallows and remove from heat. Stir the marshmallow mixture until the marshmallows are almost completely melted.
Add the marshmallow mixture to the Rice Krispies and fold together. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Using the back of a spoon, spread the mixture evenly into the dish, then either wet or spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray and gently but firmly pat down the Rice Krispies treats.
Cool for about 20 minutes, or until they hold their shape, then cut into 3" squares. Enjoy!
Notes
Storing instructions: store at room temperature in a cool, dry place for up to 4 days. Because of the high butter and fat content, storing them in the fridge can make them get way too hard.
