- 1½ tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter melted
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 6-6½ cups all-purpose flour all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons butter melted
Making the Bread Dough
In the bowl of a stand mixer, mix together the yeast, sugar, and warm water and let stand for five minutes, or until foamy.
Once foamy, add the milk, melted butter, eggs, salt, and 3 cups of flour. Using the dough hook, mix until combined and then add up to 3½ more cups of flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead the dough for 3-5 minutes until smooth, then place in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap or a towel. Let the dough rise at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Baking
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Gently punch the dough down and divide into 2 pieces. Roll out each piece of dough until 1/2" thick, then cut into 3" circles using a round cookie cutter. Use the back of a knife and make an indent in the center of each circle of dough, then fold over into a half-moon shape. Space evenly on the prepared pan.
Once all of the rolls have been shaped, brush with melted butter and let rise for an additional 15-20 minutes.
Bake in your preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Remove from the oven and brush with more melted butter before serving. Enjoy!
Storing leftovers: store in freezer bags or another airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
