- 12 slices bacon
- 1 medium white onion chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 15-ounce cans pork and beans
- 1 cup light brown sugar packed
- 2/3 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup bbq sauce
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until golden brown and crisp, then remove from the pan and drain on a paper towel.
In the same skillet with bacon grease, add the minced white onion. Saute over medium heat until translucent and golden brown, then add the ground beef, salt, and pepper to taste. Cook until there is just a little pink remaining—about 5-7 minutes.
Once the beef is almost cooked, add the pork and beans (do not drain), brown sugar, ketchup, bbq sauce, mustard, and vinegar. Stir until combined.
Pour into a 9" x 13" baking dish and spread evenly. Cut bacon into 2" strips and add to the top of the beans.
Bake in your preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the sauce has thickened and the beans are tender.
Remove from the oven and serve warm. Enjoy!
Storing instructions: store completely cooled beans in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheating: reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop over medium low heat.
Make-ahead tips: you can either make your baked beans the night before and reheat the next day, or prepare the beans by combining all ingredients, then store in the fridge and cook the next day.
