Ingredients

  • 8-11 pounds spiral sliced ham
  • 1/4 cup apple juice or pineapple juice
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees F.
  • Remove all of the packaging, including the plastic disk on the underside of the ham and place in a 9" x 13" glass baking dish, or similar shallow roasting pan. Add 1/4 cup apple juice and cover tightly with foil or a lid.
  • Place in your preheated oven and cook for 1 hour 20 minutes—1 hour 50 minutes, or about 10 minutes per pound of ham.
  • While the ham is cooking, heat a medium saucepan over medium heat and add the brown sugar, honey, orange juice, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. While stirring, bring to a rapid boil and boil for about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes, then brush or drizzle the glaze over the ham about 20 minutes before it has finished cooking.
  • After glazing, return the ham to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 20 minutes until the glaze is a little crispy and the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees F.
  • Once cooked, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing. Spoon the juices over the ham before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Storing Instructions
    • Refrigerator: place leftovers in an airtight container and store for up to 4 days in the fridge.
    • Freezer: to freeze leftover spiral ham, place in freezer bags and remove as much air as possible. Store frozen for up to three months.  Thaw in the fridge overnight.
    • Reheating: to reheat, you can either microwave until warm, or cover with foil and rewarm in a 300-degree oven, covered in a shallow dish, for about 30 minutes or until warmed through.
Tips
  • Heat the ham for about 10 minutes per pound of ham.
  • The internal temperature of the ham should be 140 degrees F.
  • To get the most tender and juicy ham, slice the ham and lay in a baking dish, then drizzle with a little ham glaze.
  • Serve with a little classic mustard or dijon mustard.
Time and Temperature Guide
  • Oven temperature: 300-325°F
  • Cooking time: 10-15 minutes per pound for a fully cooked, bone-in spiral ham
  • Internal temperature: 140°F in the thickest area (not touching bone)
  • Example: 8-pound ham at 325°F takes about 1 hour 20 minutes to 2 hours.
