- 1/2 cup salted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter, buttermilk, sugar, and corn syrup. Bring the mixture to a rapid boil while stirring and boil for 2-3 minutes, or just until the mixture starts to caramelize.
Take the syrup off the heat and whisk in the baking soda and vanilla. Stir, then let it cool for at least 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Storing instructions: store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month.
Do not freeze! Buttermilk syrup will separate and become a little gritty if frozen.
