Equipment

  • 6 Wooden Skewers soaked

Ingredients

  • 40 medium shrimp peeled and deveined

Shrimp Marinade

  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Bang Bang Shrimp Sauce

  • 1/4 cup Kewpie mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Marinate the Shrimp

  • In a large glass mixing bowl, add the peeled and deveined shrimp, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and olive oil. Mix to combine, then cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the fridge for about 1 hour.

Grilling the Shrimp

  • Preheat the grill to about 335 degrees F.
  • Place the wooden skewers into a shallow baking dish and cover with water. Soak for at least 30 minutes - 1 hour so the sticks don't burn while the shrimp cooks.
  • Remove the shrimp from the marinade, then thread onto the kabob sticks being careful to evenly space so it will cook evenly.
  • In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chili sauce, Sriracha, honey, salt, and pepper to make the bang bang sauce.
  • Place the shrimp kabobs on the preheated grill and cook for about 2 minutes, then turn over and brush with the bang bang sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes, or until bright pink and cooked through.
  • Once cooked, remove the kabobs from the grill and let them rest on a platter for a few minutes. Serve warm. Enjoy!

Notes

Storing leftovers: remove shrimp from the skewers and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheating: reheat in the microwave or in a skillet over medium heat.
Use wooden skewers for shrimp so that they don't spin while cooking.
