Garlic Butter Mushrooms

These Garlic Butter Mushrooms are a quick and easy side dish to serve alongside chicken, steak, pork chops, or even over pasta. Sliced button mushrooms are sauteed in a delicious garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Button Mushrooms cremini or baby bella work too; cut in half or bite-sized.
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter can substitute olive oil or avocado oil
  • 3 medium Garlic Cloves or 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper
  • ½ Tablespoon Italian Parsley chopped; for garnish

Instructions

  • Using a damp paper towel, gently wipe off the mushrooms.
  • Heat a medium-sized skillet over medium high heat and add the butter. Once hot, add the mushrooms and cook for about 3 minutes, tossing occasionally.
  • Add the minced garlic and stir to coat the mushrooms in the butter and garlic. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until the mushrooms are golden brown on several sides.
  • Season with salt and pepper and stir to coat. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm. Enjoy!

Notes

Recipe Tips
  • Clean them properly: Gently wipe mushrooms with a damp cloth or brush to remove dirt; avoid soaking them in water.
  • Slice uniformly: Cut mushrooms into even slices to ensure they cook evenly. 
  • Preheat the pan: Use a medium-high heat to get a nice sear without overcrowding the mushrooms.
  • Season generously: Don't skimp on salt and pepper, but for best results, don't add the salt until the mushrooms are almost finished cooking.  Adding salt will pull the liquid out of the mushrooms and make them a little soggy. 
  • Avoid stirring too much: Let the mushrooms sit in the pan to develop a golden-brown crust before tossing.
  • Add fresh herbs: Enhance the flavor with herbs like fresh thyme, parsley, or chives.
