- 2-4 pounds carne asada
- 3 tablespoons adobo sauce from canned chipotle peppers in adobo
- 1/4 cup lime juice or about 2 limes
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup avocado oil
- 1/2 cup cilantro finely chopped
- 5 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 medium lime for serving
In a large ziploc bag, combine the adobo sauce, lime juice, avocado oil, brown sugar, finely chopped cilantro, minced garlic, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix and then add the meat. Marinate for about 30 minutes.
Once ready to cook, heat a large nonstick saucepan or cast iron pan over medium high heat. Add the avocado oil, then remove the meat from the marinade and add to the pan. For medium rare, sear for about 2-3 minutes per side, seasoning with salt and pepper.
Once cooked, transfer the carne asada to a plate and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing, tossing with any juices, and serving on tacos, nachos, burritos, fries, and more. Enjoy!
Storing instructions: store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheating: reheat in a pot over medium low heat, stirring frequently.
If you want this to be a little spicer, add some chipotle peppers from the adobo sauce can.
