Brie and Fig Bites Recipe

These Fig and Brie Puff Pastry Bites are a quick and easy appetizer that look amazing and taste delicious. Each light and flakey pastry is stuffed with fig jam, melted Brie, and salty Gorgonzola cheese—perfect for serving at holiday parties or even for game day snacks.

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry thawed
  • 8 ounces Brie Cheese cut into 18 equal pieces
  • 1/3 cup Fig Jam
  • 3 tablespoons Gorgonzola Cheese

Egg Wash

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 tablespoon Sea Salt Flakes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets and lay them out on a flat, lightly floured surface. Use a knife to cut along the fold marks to create three equal sized strips. Cut each strip in thirds to make a total of 9 squares.
  • Arrange the puff pastry squares on a parchment paper lined baking sheet with at least 1" between each pastry.
  • Use a paring knife to cut 2 opposing corners of the puff pastry, about 1/2" in from the edges (see picture above for details). Use a fork to poke a few holes into the circles of each pastry. This allows the outside border to rise and puff up while the center stays lower and holds the filling.
  • In the center of each puff pastry square, add a slice of brie cheese topped with about 1/2 tablespoon of fig jam and a sprinkle of Gorgonzola cheese.
  • Dip your finger into a small bowl of cold water, take each cut corner of the puff pastry, and fold over to create a diamond shape.
  • Whisk together the egg and water in a small bowl, then use a pastry brush to brush all of the exposed areas of the puff pastry. Sprinkle a little sea salt on top of each pastry.
  • Bake in your preheated oven for 12-18 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and cool on a baking rack for at least 5 minutes (or completely) before serving. Enjoy!
