Baked Beans with Ground Beef and Bacon Recipe

This is the Best Baked Beans Recipe from scratch made with bacon, ground beef, and canned beans. It’s got a sweet and savory brown sugar sauce and is the perfect side dish to bring to any backyard BBQ or summer potluck.

Ingredients

  • 12 slices Bacon
  • 1 medium White Onion chopped
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper
  • 3 15 oz cans Pork and Beans
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar packed
  • cup Ketchup
  • ½ cup BBQ Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon White Wine Vinegar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large skillet, fry the bacon until crisp. Drain on a paper towel and set aside.
  • In the same skillet with bacon grease, add the minced white onion. Saute over medium heat until translucent and golden brown. Add the ground beef, salt, and pepper to taste, then cook until there is just a little pink remaining - about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once the beef is almost cooked, add the pork and beans (do not drain), brown sugar, ketchup, bbq sauce, mustard, and vinegar. Stir until combined.
  • Pour into a 9" x 13" baking dish and spread evenly. Cut bacon into 2" strips and add to the top of the beans.
  • Bake in your preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the sauce has thickened and the beans are tender.
  • Remove from the oven and serve warm. Enjoy!
