Homemade Chocolate-Dipped Nutella Balls
These bite-sized Nutella Balls are part no-bake treat, part homemade candy, and totally delicious, no matter how you classify them. Theyโre creamy, buttery, crunchy, and easy enough simple enough for a child to make!
You can easily make variations to the recipe, too. Try swapping out Rice Krispies or gingersnap cookies for the graham crackers, or use a different nut paste such as cashew or almond. Dip in dark, milk or white chocolate, or even leave them plain if you want.
If you plan to make these as gifts for the holidays, you can sprinkle the tops with a touch of fleur de sel, crushed Oreos, chopped nuts or sprinkles just before they set up. They will look super fancy and no one will need to know just how simple they are!

Ingredients in Nutella Balls
- Butter - your butter needs to be room temperature so that it will mix well with the Nutella.
- Nutella - you should be able to find this at any grocery store - usually near the peanut butter, and other nut butters. If you prefer, you can actually swap out the Nutella for almond butter, cashew butter, peanut butter or even cookie butter.
- Graham Crackers - you can buy these crushed or crush them yourself using a rolling pin or cup. You could also replace them with Rice Krispies, crushed gingersnap cookies or any other type of sweet cookie or plain cereal.
- Powdered Sugar - itโs always a good idea to sift your powdered sugar.
- Chocolate - this recipe is delicious in white chocolate, dark chocolate or milk chocolate - my personal favorite!
How to Make Nutella Balls
- Make the Nutella mixture. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the room temperature butter and Nutella. Using the paddle attachment, cream together on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the graham cracker crumbs and powdered sugar and mix on low to combine until the mixture is crumbly but holds its shape if squeezed in the palm of your hand. (Note: if it's too sticky, add a touch more graham crackers and if it's too dry, add a touch more Nutella)
- Shape. Before shaping, coat your hands lightly with butter or non-stick cooking spray, then scoop and roll the Nutella mixture into 1" balls.
- Chill. Place each ball on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then set in the fridge until you are ready to dip, or at least 30 minutes.
- Dip into melted chocolate. In the meantime, melt your chocolate and remove the Nutella balls from the fridge. Using a fork, plunge one Nutella ball at a time completely into the chocolate, then remove using the fork. Shake and tap on the side of the bowl, then scrape the bottom of the fork to remove excess chocolate. Place the chocolate-dipped Nutella ball on the parchment-lined sheet tray and continue until all balls are dipped.
- Cool and store. Once you are finished dipping, set the sheet tray in the fridge until the chocolate is completely set, then transfer to an airtight container and store in a cool place. Enjoy!
Tips and Tricks
While this recipe is incredibly simple, we still have a few tips and tricks to suggest that should make the process foolproof, and give you ideas on simple variations that you can make.
- You can enjoy these Nutella Balls dipped in chocolate or without chocolate at all. Either way they taste amazing.
- Try replacing the Nutella with almond butter, cashew butter, peanut butter or even cookie butter.
- The easiest way to crush up graham crackers is to throw them into a freezer bag and smash with a cup or rolling pin. You can also grate them or pulse them in a food processor. If you like a little more crunch, leave the pieces on the larger side.
Storing Your Homemade Candy
- Refrigerator: these hold up in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
- Freezer: you can freeze these with or without chocolate. Store in freezer bags, or an airtight container, for up to 3 months. Allow them to thaw out in the fridge or at room temperature before enjoying.
